Great Valley, Large Scale Solar project

Projects & Case Studies

Large Scale Solar Projects

Community Solar Gardens are a growing trend, and it’s easy to see why. They give urban customers, smaller businesses, and residential customers an opportunity to buy solar power without having solar installations on their own land. For example, when a 1-megawatt project is installed, instead of the benefit going to one client, many different customers benefit from the renewable energy source. National Energy Development(NED) has run numerous community solar projects and is at the cutting edge of this trend.

Transforming Unused Land Into Community Assets

Project Size: 4.691 MW

Location: Great Valley, NY

When the Town of Great Valley faced a quarter-million-dollar reclamation bill for their depleted gravel pit, they discovered a better solution through a partnership with National Energy Development.

Instead of burdening taxpayers with costly remediation, we worked closely with Supervisor Dan Brown to transform this 70-year-old industrial site into a thriving solar energy facility. Our team handled the complete site reclamation to state specifications while installing a solar array that now generates ongoing revenue for the community.

This innovative approach eliminated the massive upfront cost while creating a sustainable income stream that will benefit Great Valley residents for decades to come.

Transforming Unused Land Into Community Assets

Project Size: 7.33 MW

Location: Depew, NY

When Mayor Kevin Peterson and the Village of Depew received a DEC remediation order for their former landfill site along Cayuga Creek, they faced a difficult choice: bond for expensive cleanup costs or find an innovative funding solution.

National Energy Development stepped in with a creative partnership that transformed this environmental liability into a revenue opportunity. By purchasing 15 acres of the 35-acre site, we provided the village with immediate funding to complete the required creek remediation – eliminating any financial impact on Depew taxpayers. Our team worked efficiently to install the solar facility in a timely manor, demonstrating our commitment to minimizing disruption while maximizing community benefit.
